NAMserves: Disaster Relief Project - Books and School Supplies

About Us

The Need

More than 950 schools in Houston, East Texas, Florida, Mississippi, and Louisiana have been severely impacted by hurricane flooding.

Thousands of classrooms and tens of thousands of students have little or no school supplies.

In Houston alone, more than 1 trillion gallons fell. That is more than 10 full-sized swimming pools of water that fell each day, for every person, over a five day period.

Scores of school and shelter libraries were wiped out by the relentless storm. Many are starting over with nothing.

How You Can Help

Collect and send one or more school supply items or children’s books.

Every pencil counts.

Every book counts.

Each item that you can collect and send will help provide hope and will empower a student that needs your help.

What We Do

We are located in Houston, Texas - at the epicenter of the destruction left by Hurricane Harvey.

Our office team and warehouse serve as a central collection and distribution site.

In any natural disaster, there are three phases:

1. Rescue

2. Relief

3. Rebuild

Our focus is on providing relief as well as rebuilding classrooms and empowering students.

We will receive, organize, and distribute all items to schools, shelters and children in need that are located in the United States and US territories.

Here’s what to do. It’s as easy as 1, 2, 3!

1) Collect the item(s) that you would like to donate.

2) Complete the online submission form. Please note that there is no request for a credit card nor money. The online form is just to let us keep track of what you are sending.

3) Send your donated item(s), with a copy of the confirmation email, to the NAM national office at:

5821 W Sam Houston Pkwy N, Suite 100

Houston, TX 77041

The Goal

The Goal

Our goal was to collect and distribute a total of $25,000 of school supplies and children’s books.

Update: As of November 17, 2017, we have received a total of $60,774 in donations from across the country. Great job!

What to Collect

There are only two categories of items for this project: School Supplies and Children’s Books (Pre-K through 12h grade). If you have items that fit in any way into these categories, in either new or good condition, then that is exactly what we are looking for!

This project does not involve monetary donations of any kind. Only school supplies and children’s books, please.

Who can participate?

Anyone and everyone is invited to participate in this worthy project. It will take an army of people across the country working together to achieve this goal. YOU are in the lead!

National American Miss

National American Miss (NAM) is one of the largest scholarship-style pageant systems in the United States. Our national office is located in Houston, Texas.

At the state pageant events each year, our participants and families bring a nationwide total of more than $400,000 in collected children’s books and school supplies. We distribute those donations to women’s shelters, first responders, schools, hospitals, and many other charities that serve families.

NAM is recognized as the leader in natural pageants, emphasizing a make-up free experience for younger participants, and a confidence-growing experience for all ages.
